Sara Love (D-MD)

Sara Love is a life-long feminist activist and Bethesda resident who is running to serve as Delegate to Maryland’s 16th district.

Background and Achievements

We have had the privilege of working closely with Sara when she served as Legal Director to the Feminist Majority Foundation’s National Clinic Access Project, combating anti-abortion violence that was threatening doctors and clinics.  She went on to become the Legal Director at NARAL Pro-Choice and then Public Policy Director at the ACLU of Maryland.
Needless to say, Sara is a staunch and tireless advocate for reproductive rights. If elected, she will continue this work by pursuing policies that keep our doctors and healthcare workers safe, educate women about the false information preached by anti-abortion activists, and make sure that all forms of birth control are affordable and available.
Sara is also passionate about fully funding public schools and is committed to addressing the teacher shortage that has hit Montgomery County. Sara wants to stop investing taxpayer dollars in private and religious schools, and start allocating more resources to pre-K programs, students with special needs, teacher supports, and resources that will help end the school-to-prison pipeline.

Positions on Key Issues

  • Strong supporter of public schools
  • Strong advocate for women’s health care, including reproductive rights
  • Voter rights and accessibility
  • Ending discrimination in the workplace

Prospects & Opponents

Sara has a crowded upcoming primary. Maryland’s 16th House District is represented by three delegates, two of which are running for re-election. In order to secure a place on the general election ballot, Love must be one of the top three victors in her primary. If she advances, she will run against Republican Bill Day, who is running unopposed. The district is safely Democratic.
